Data recovery and also its protection forms an important part of today’s world. This is so as; most of the data today is stored in the digital form. Realizing its importance, the ISO has come up with a set of standard rules about data protection and recovery. These rules provide guidelines about the following:

• Implementation, operation and maintenance of the various services those are required for data recovery.
• The services and facilities that data recovery service providers should have in order to help various companies that have lost data.
• Various ways in which, the above mentioned companies can strive to improve their services.
• The proper site for recovery of data.

However, these guidelines do not prove to be sufficient for companies that have suffered from a data loss disaster. This is so as, no guidelines have been provided about steps that should be taken in order to restart ones business after such a loss. Companies do indeed need to focus on the same as; among the companies that have suffered from a data loss, 43 percent have not reopened and over 50 percent have closed within a couple of years of the disaster.
